The Colorado 300 is a great unit, but it has a lot of flaws/weaknesses.
Enclosed is a high priority list for the Colorado 300 (Im using ver 2.30).
Power page
Time should display hh:mm:ss A lot of people use a GPS as a master clock.
GPS signal strength does not show if GPS has fix (2D/3D).
Map page - North up/track up
It should be possible to switch mode from the option menu.
This behavior should also switch automatically depending on selectable zoom
level.
If you pan in track up mode, the disp! lay switch to north up during panning.
When you pan the map the unit should remember the "up mode".
In pan mode it would be very convenient to see distance and bearing to cursor
point.
When navigating, it' s space on the screen for a red arrow between the data
fields, just like in the geocacher heading page. That would be nice!
Compass page.
It should be possible to switch compass on/off from the option menu.
When you are in geocache mode the option menu is not visible. (And sometimes
it is necessary to calibrate it).
It's nearly impossible to find the menu for switching compass on/off. (It's
on setup->heading!)
Rules for automatic compass should be selectable.
By the way. The compass page looks and feels better thon on the 60CS!
Geochace page
It would be so useful if it also gave the info Found/Not found, Cache type (Traditional,
Multi, Mystery, Event ...)
Geochace header
The page does not use the data-fields from the s! etting, the map is always
north up, and the map will not pan when you move.
Trip page (and also for data fields on other pages).
The font is bad. The old style computer shaped numbers has low readability factor.
Track.
A black track line can mix up with other map symbols. Track color should be
selectable.
Sound.
Sounds for key click, messages and alarms should be selectable. Sound on/off
is useless.
If you select no key click, you also select no alarms (including clock alarm).
Make waypoint.
For a geocacher it is absolute necessary to average a WP. This is not possible
on the Colorado.
Setup
Gps->Tones On/off is not good enough. Selectable tones for key click, power
on/off, alarms, clock alarm ... If youu don't like key-click and turn sound
of, the alarm clock will not work ...
Waypoint manager
Waypoint symbol should be visible in the list.
Change Comment/Change Location should display the complete text (not scrolling
out of the screen).
It would be convenient with ! a "Go To" button on this page.
It would be convenient with a "Delete" button on this page (I know
it is on the options page).
It must be possible to delete a group of symbols (based on symbol).
Geocaches
Geocaches must be displayed on the screen.
If you have large files this function is very slow.
I have increased the speed to almost zero time by splitting the GPX file into
one cache per file.
It should not be a limit on the number of geocaches on the system (and at least
10000 should be allowed).
