FAQ

Q: Has this software made any damage or trouble to any GPS devices?
A: No, at least not reported.

A: You must download the Garmin firmware to the same directory as GpsWarn.exe.

Q: I got the error: Could not find WARNING text 3, ATTENZIONE
A: You need GpsWarn ver 1.7 on firmware released Juli 2003 and later.

Q: I loaded 2.50 on my venture, Doesn't GpsWarn support the Venture anymore?
A: No, sorry! It's not possible to replace the warning text in this firmware.

Q: Can this software be used on GPS V, SP III, GPS MAP 12, Yellow eTrex, eMap, GPS 48 ...
A: No, sorry!

Q: My gps is Garmin GPS V, SPIII ... do you plan to include this device to your software?
A: No, sorry! I will only support Gps/GpsMap 76(s) and eTrex.

Q: I have already personalized my GPS and Garmin publish new firmware software, what do I do?

Q: I have downloaded beta version 2.xx b for my GPS, but I can't find it in your list?
A: No, I don't support beta versions. (Read the next question if you don't agree.)

Q: What if GpsWarn does not support the new firmware?
A: Use the contact form to inform me. If you don't have patient to wait for a new version, you may modify the gpswarn.ini file yourself. Use crc305 to calculate the new CRC value for the .rgn file.
C:\GARMIN> crc305.exe 019401000201.rgn
CRC of file 019401000201.rgn (1278816 bytes) is 0xB3BCF600
Start notepad and edit the gpswarn.ini file.

It's important to inspect the gpswarn.log file after GpsWarn has run and before the .rgn file is uploaded to the GPS! Do not use this program on other GPS models than listed in the download page.

Q: I found a new file ??????.org after running GpsWarn, what is that?
A: The ??????.org file is a backup of the original ??????.rgn file. This makes it easier to run GpsWarn several times without downloading the firmware before each time you run GpsWarn. The program uses a CRC checksum to inspect what file as is the original.
